that are able to repair any type of fault with laptops.
We repair laptops down to component level. All our in-house
repairs are charged at a fixed rate for labour, you
will be quoted a fixed labour cost in advance, parts
will be charged in addition. These are a few of the

All internal laptop repairs come with
a three month no quibble warranty. Also included with
any repair is a full service to help pro long the life
of your machine. This we feel is giving you greater
chance of longevity with your laptop. Generally most
laptops internally are in a poor state, usually causes
are dust, hair, food particles and various house hold
products. Our service includes checking heat/cooling
management e.g.. Fans etc., heat sync compound and assembly,
power circuits.
We pride ourselves on our transparent
pricing, the aim is that you will know exactly how much
Syn-star will charge you for the repair, this is for
all the repairs. All repair quotes are for labour only,
any parts and postage will be charged extra.
We have two main pricing structures,
these are software and hardware. Each of these have
two main time scales, the standard repair has a turnaround
time of between 2 – 7 days. The ‘fast-track’
basically means you jump to the front of the queue,
this repair is a guaranteed turnaround time of 48 hours,
subject to availability of parts.
Software repair pricing:
£30 inc. VAT standard repair with a usual turnaround
2-10 days parts dependent.
We offer a fast track service from only £10.00
extra, this means you jump to the front of the queue
Different stores may have different charges for labour.
Hardware repair pricing:
The cost of a general repair, this includes completely
stripping down a laptop is £72.50 inc. VAT standard
repair usually has a turnaround of 2-10 days parts dependent,
all additional parts are charged extra.
If the laptops are brought into any
of our stores this is the total price, however if they
are delivered the following costs are applied:

We charge £12+vat next day return
courier delivery or £22+vat collection and return
courier service to anywhere mainland England and Wales.

Charging
faults:
Charging faults are one of the most common faults
to laptops, they usually occur through general were
and tear. We will always check the laptop charger
first, if it is just the charger we do not charge
for the repair and only will charge for the return
postage and packaging.
Charging blocks (internal) which have come away
from the main board are repaired at a fixed rate
of £72.50 plus any cost of a replacement block,
these are usually around £10 – £25. |

Laptop Screens:
Laptop screen repairs are very common mainly due
to them being the weakest part of the device.
It is difficult to give an exact quote for a replacement
screen as we need to dismantle the laptop and
replace on a like for like basis. There are various
codes and serial numbers on the actual components,
thus needing the laptops to be stripped down before
a quotation for the exact screen can be given.
This must however be done by an experienced engineer
as to ensure no further damage to the laptop.
All of the repair work (engineer time) will be
fixed at £40.00 and the average cost of
a new screen is between £80 - £200
dependent on laptop.
We charge in advance for the labour but will always
confirm a price for the new LCD before it is ordered.

Motherboard:
Laptops do have all there component integrated into
the main board. This does make them less accessible
than a desktop, however they are still fully repairable.
We are able to make various repairs to motherboards
like graphics, wireless and most commonly the charging
block. This is if the cost of a new board is higher
than a repair. |

Liquid
ingress:
Damage to laptops caused by liquid ingress is
a very common and very repairable fault.
We have special equipment and solutions to be
able to dissolve most liquids. The most common
being alcohol and fizzy drinks.
Some times replacement parts are needed, this
is usually keyboards but it is difficult to quote
without having the laptop stripped down at our
workshop. We offer a fixed price for liquid ingress
of £72.50 Plus return P & P |

Keyboard faults:
Keyboard replacements are one of the most common
faults with notebooks.
We can either try to repair the keyboard or replace
it.
The main faults are either the keys have come
off or don't work.
We charge £20+VAT to repair notebook keyboards.

Hard drive faults:
Hard drives are only a problem if sufficient back-up
of the data has not been made. Generally hard
drives are easily accessible and we will be able
to replace them including the charge of a standard
software repair and rescue. In some case the notebook
needs to be stripped to to gain access, in these
case it may be a charge of £72.50. only
about 2% of laptops do not have access.

Overheating / shutting down:
Notebooks that shut down after using for varying
period of time may be over heating. This can either
be a fault with the laptop, possible the thermal
coolers have broken, or possible is clogged up
inside. This can often be caused by dust or possibly
the environment it is used in.
Over heating can also be prevented by using cooling
pads. We also have a range of these in our stores.
These are especially useful if you use you notebook
on your lap for example, as the air flow can be
restricted.

Impact damage:
Has you notebook ever been dropped or received

A full hardware repair and rescue is charged
at £72.50 inc. VAT.

Software faults:
We can fix all types of software faults. Whether
we can cleanse the faults or the notebook may
need a complete reinstall this is covered in our
complete fixed price repair and rescue.
We charge from £30 inc. VAT for a standard
2-10 day repair or an extra £10 for a fast
track. This means we will start the repair the
day you bring it in, our average repair is completed
within three days.
